Essa teoria sustenta que o Universo est\u00e1 se expandindo e que a mat\u00e9ria est\u00e1 sendo criada continuamente para manter constante a densidade m\u00e9dia da mat\u00e9ria no espa\u00e7o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoyle foi educado no Emmanuel College e no St. John\u2019s College, Cambridge, e passou seis anos durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial com o Almirantado Brit\u00e2nico, trabalhando no desenvolvimento do radar. Em 1945, ele voltou a Cambridge como professor de Matem\u00e1tica. Tr\u00eas anos depois, em colabora\u00e7\u00e3o com o astr\u00f4nomo Thomas Gold e o matem\u00e1tico Hermann Bondi, ele anunciou a teoria do estado estacion\u00e1rio. Dentro da estrutura da teoria da relatividade de Albert Einstein, Hoyle formulou uma base matem\u00e1tica para a teoria do estado estacion\u00e1rio, tornando a expans\u00e3o do Universo e a cria\u00e7\u00e3o da mat\u00e9ria interdependente. Einstein presumiu que o Universo como um todo \u00e9 est\u00e1tico &#8211; ou seja, suas propriedades em grande escala n\u00e3o variam com o tempo. Essa suposi\u00e7\u00e3o, feita antes da descoberta observacional do astr\u00f4nomo americano Edwin Hubble da expans\u00e3o do Universo em 1929, tamb\u00e9m era natural; era a abordagem mais simples, como Arist\u00f3teles havia descoberto, se algu\u00e9m desejasse evitar a discuss\u00e3o de um evento de cria\u00e7\u00e3o.
